Sparta Camera Club EXPO XXXV : Thirty Five Years of Photography
Sparta Camera Club is holding its 35th EXPO Photography Competition and Exhibition in the Village Hall on November 16, 10am – 7pm and Sunday, November 17, 10am – 6pm. The public is welcome to view the work of the exhibitors.
The world of photography has dramatically changed in the 35 years since the Sparta Camera Club first held this competition in 1984. There were no digital cameras and pictures were either submitted in print or slides at that time. Many members worked with film and some even had their own darkrooms, in which they developed and printed their own photos. Today the members take photos with digital cameras and cell phones and use inkjet printers (often doing their own printing). What has not changed is the photographers’ desire to share their work with others.
You do not need to be a club member to submit photographs for the exhibit. Adult and student photographers may enter their work. The professional photographers judge the competition that takes place on November 6th at the Sparta Ambulance Building. Awards are presented across a number of different categories with the final award, Best in Show, being given to the judges choice out of all the blue ribbon winners. All prints submitted are included in the print exhibition.
If you are interested in submitting your photos to EXPO, additional information and the entry form is available on the Sparta Camera Club’s web page http://spartacameraclub.org.
